Air pollution, climate change and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) have been designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as some of the leading global public health threats facing humanity. 

Air pollution is responsible for over 300,000 premature deaths annually in the EU.  EPHA’s work focuses on supporting a transition towards clean transport, heating and cooking. These sectors currently rely heavily on burning fossil fuels, which is a major cause of air pollution and climate change. 

AMR – the ability of microorganisms to resist antimicrobials – threatens outcomes of medical treatments, putting patients in increased danger of serious complications, including disability and death. While it has often been called the silent pandemic, EPHA advocates for the EU to take loud and effective action in the global fight against AMR.
