Background
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stands as one of the most critical public health challenges of our time, threatening the very foundations of modern medicine. In response, the WHO Civil Society Task Force on AMR, launched in 2025 champions an equitable, people-centered approach by amplifying community voices and holding decision-makers accountable. Because civil society is a strategic driver of change rather than just a stakeholder, this global movement requires dedicated visibility to translate high-level commitments into impactful local action.
Convened on the sidelines of the Task Force’s Steering Committee Meeting in Brussels (March 30–31, 2026), this event was hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and organised by EPHA. As the formal bridge between organized civil society and EU institutions, the EESC provided the ideal platform to connect global leadership with European stakeholders. The event showcased the indispensable value of civil society in the global AMR response and forge concrete pathways for future collaboration.
