The World Lung Foundation recently launched the 15 000 a day campaign in order to raise awareness on the forthcoming UN Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases and the need to give tobacco the appropriate attention it deserves as one of the main factors of 63% of deaths worldwide. Further information about the campaign is available below.
The World Lung Foundation recently launched the 15 000 a day website with the view to use the forthcoming UN Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases to notably raise awareness on tobacco and the need to accelerate the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
While the website reminds some of the health damages caused by tobacco consumption, it insists on the fact that tobacco is also the most preventable cause of disease and death.
On 19th and 20th September 2011, the United Nations will organise a Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases. In that context, the 15 000 a day website aims to raise awareness on the Summit as well as to gather high level representation in order to allow a successful and fruitful meeting.
