The “Cry Wolf” report on environmental law

According to the report “Cry Wolf – predicted costs by industry in the face of new regulations” published by the International Chemical Secretariat and sponsored by WWF, industry is accused of having overestimated the cost of implementing environmental legislation for years in order to persuade politicians to weaken or drop proposed environmental law.

This report is based on five studies: EC Directive on vehicle emissions standards European auto-oil programme; UN/EC protocols on acidifcation; US Clean Air Act; and the Montreal Protocol on ozone layer depleting substances.
