The Health Policy Forum met on 11th October 2004 to debate several issues.
In the morning session recent developments in the EU agenda were debated, such as the Commission communication on long-term care, a presentation on structural funds and health, the informal consultation on the new European drug strategy, an update on the environment and health action plan, update on the situation of HIV/AIDS, and information regarding the Public Health Programme.
In the afternoon, issues concerning the development of the Open Forum and of the Policy Forum were discussed. Several presentations included an evaluation of the Open Forum and the developments of the working groups of the Policy Forum.
David Byrne, Commissioner for Health and Consumer Affairs, gave a presentation on the Health Strategy. Forum members raised their comments on the Strategy and Mr Byrne asked their questions.
