On Tuesday 25 November, the European Parliament adopted at its Strasbourg plenary sitting a resolution on the employment and social aspects of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
The resolution draws attention to the poor performance of the Strategy as regards its social and employment objectives and states that these have not been sufficiently reflected in the European Semester process.
In the Resolution the Parliament calls for the introduction of additional indicators on child poverty, access to healthcare and homelessness, as well as the systematic consultation of civil society actors in the Semester process. It also calls for an open consultation, similar to that currently underway for the Europe 2020 Strategy, for the European Semester, for full implementation of the Social Investment Package and for a rebalancing of economic and social priorities within the Strategy.
