On August 14 the European Commission launched a new website –singlemarket20.eu– to highlight the events being held in the upcoming Single Market Week.
Monday 15 October will see the launch of the EU’s Single Market Week, celebrating 20 years of the Single European Market (SEM). Events will be taking place in cities across the 27 EU Member States, aiming to bring together citizens and businesses with Members of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Council and the Member States. A variety of forums, fairs, conferences, exhibitions, radio and TV programmes and quizzes will provide opportunities to discuss the successes and achievements of the last 20 years, as well as looking ahead to the future of the SEM.
A launch event will take place at the European Parliament on Monday 15 October, enabling participants to engage in lively discussion and debate with a range of stakeholders and prestigious guests, such as President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Michael Barnier, and former President of the European Commission Jacques Delors.
The new website is an interactive platform providing information about the achievements of the SEM, news and media listings and registration for Single Market Week events.
