EPHA Responds to consultation on the EU Anti-Racism Strategy 2026-2030

The European Commission launched a public consultation from 15 April to 8 July 2025 to inform the development of the EU Anti-Racism Strategy 2026–2030, aiming to build upon the 2020–2025 Action Plan that is about to end.

On 8 July 2025, EPHA submitted its response, advocating for:

      • Recognition of racism and discrimination as fundamental determinants of health.
      • Meaningful Involvement of Affected Communities and Experts
      • Respectful and Inclusive Language
      • Disaggregated Equality Data
      • Breaking Down Silos and Taking Action
      • Addressing Racism in Healthcare and Science

These recommendations build on EPHA’s core work and member insights, including the 2024 report on the right to health for People of African Descent and our webinar on ethnic disparities in healthcare. They are also informed by the DisQo Thematic Network, a coalition of around 90 civil society organisations and individuals working across Europe. Through DisQo, we’ve partnered with communities including Roma, migrants, and People of African Descent, refining our approach through webinars, joint statements for the European Commission, and targeted stakeholder consultations that shaped this consultation response.

Our input is part of EPHA and DisQo’s sustained push through the EU’s multi-stage consultation process: from DisQo engagements in mid‑2023, to our August 2024 right to health report submitted to the Commission, and now this contribution to the 2026–2030 strategy. With this continuity, we call for the voices of racialised and marginalised communities to be central in EU anti‑racism policymaking.
